Travel. Breathe. Live. Repeat.

August is a relaxing month for many people around the world. In Italy and France, the entire country pretty much shuts down for the month of August. In the United States, many people take time off to travel or go on a vacation.  As the days heat up and the air conditioner in my office does not work it just reminds me that the universe is telling us to slow down. Breathe. Live a little. Life is hectic. Our nerves are closer to the edge as the heat rises. It is time to stop a little and reflect.

Take an afternoon off to go to the pool, the beach or just be near water. Take your kid to the park. Walk in the grass without shoes. The computer, your email, will always be there.  it is not going anywhere.  Take some time for you. It is OK to make a little time to breathe. As children, we took the summer for granted. Summer was a fun adventure time to just relax and climb a tree and eat popsicles in the backyard. As an adult summer is just another work week for many of us and we forget to breathe. Does that sound familiar? It sure does to me!

What you need to do is take an afternoon off to do nothing.  How about a weekend? Buy some popsicles, go sit in your backyard or on your balcony and read a book.  The email can wait. It will be there when you get back.  Live a little. Walk in the sand with no shoes. Give yourself permission to be a child for a day or two.  How about a long weekend? It did wonders for my soul. Summer is the time to enjoy life and feel nature. If you can, travel. See something new. Taste some gelato. Enjoy your life. We will be here when you get back.
